NGO Sutyajnik welcomes an intern from the University of
Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), Quebec, Canada, for the months of
may and june 2010
Miss Isabelle Desrosiers is a former intern of the UQAM's International Clinic for the Defense of Human Rights, an academic institution working in partnership with a number of NGO's around the world, including for the last 5 years, NGO Sutyajnik, Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Baccalaureate student in International Law specialising in the field of Human Rights, she will be working under the supervision of Dr Anton Burkov, on a number of different projects in which Sutyajnik is presently involved.
With this internship she hopes to put to use her knowledge of international protection of human rights by taking part in litigation cases before the ECHR such as Basok v. Russia and Borisov v. Russia, as well as learning as much as possible about the Russian judicial system by attending lectures, conferences, consultations with the Sverdlovsk Oblast Ombudsman, court hearings, etc. Coming to Ekaterinburg for two months is also an opportunity for Isabelle to discover Russian culture and way of life as well as improving her understanding of the Russian language and history.
She will also bring back home in Canada a valuable and first hand understanding of the struggles a Non-Governmental Organization like Sutyajnik goes through in order to get funding and gather professionals to fulfilled its commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights. 07.05.2010
