This support is done through capacity development, mainly for legal professionals, and in the future, law faculties may be targeted as well.

Topic of intervention. Dr. Marie-Elisabeth Baudoin focuses her research work on the implementation of the European Convention of Human Rights in Eastern Europe. She will speak on "How Human Rights Law became an "autonomous" legal subject in France". The speaker will share the experience of teaching European Human Rights Law at the University of Auvergne Law School, but also will discuss the history of teaching European Human Rights Law in France and the influence of ECHR decisions on legal education in France.

The speaker will demonstrate that a French administrative judge apply the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in the same way as domestic law. Specific examples from very own judicial practice will be provided (how a judge deals with the Convention and the ECHR case-law) and also talk about the evolutions of the protection of human rights in prisons (from the judge's perspective) inferred by the case law of the ECHR?
