Improvements in rule of law in Russia are often come thanks to the work of NGOs working on strategic litigation of human rights cases. Russian NGO lawyer Dr. Anton Burkov, who has brought numerous cases before Russian courts based on the Convention and European court case law, will discuss how Russian NGOs devise these strategic litigation efforts, including how they select, initiate, and conduct cases, working with the Russian press along the way. Among other things, Dr.Burkov will speak about how litigation has affected Russia’s implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights
